Frequently Asked Questions

We've gathered some of the most common questions we receive from Chevy enthusiasts like you. If your question isn’t answered here, feel free to reach out, and one of our Chevy experts will respond promptly.

What range of classic chevy parts do you carry?

We provide original parts for all 1955-1970 Chevy full size passenger cars.

Why should I listen to you?

With over 40 years of experience, our passion for Chevrolets has never faded. We’ve spent decades helping Chevy enthusiasts find exactly what they need, whether it’s rare parts or expert advice. As co-founders of Classic Chevy International, one of the first major organizations of its kind, we helped establish the standards for judging classic Chevys and have hosted hundreds of car shows around the world. Our love for these cars—and the people who drive them—drives everything we do. We’re here to share our knowledge and make your restoration journey as smooth as possible.

Are you the old Late Great Chevy Association?

Yes, we are! Many customers are surprised to learn that Southeast Chevy Parts is the same company that was once known as the Late Great Chevy Association. We’re even still located in the same building at 2166 South Orange Blossom Trail in Apopka, Florida. But that’s not all—our founder, Danny Howell, also co-founded several other classic Chevy clubs, including Classic Chevy International, Bowtie Chevys, National Chevy GMC Truck Association, and the Yesteryears Association.

Do you buy parts or cars?

Absolutely! While many larger companies in the classic Chevy parts market have transitioned to exclusively selling reproduction parts for their convenience, we at Southeast Chevy Parts do things a bit differently. We not only sell classic Chevy parts, but we also actively buy and barter for them. Our goal is to acquire as many classic Chevy parts and cars as possible.

If you’re interested in making a deal, we’d love to hear your offer, provided it’s reasonable enough for us to make a profit. We have two locations—one in Orlando, Florida, and another in Los Angeles, California. We also travel across the country on specific routes a couple of times a year, so long-distance deals are definitely possible!

If you live near our travel routes, let us know! We’d be happy to stop by and check out your inventory. Feel free to reach out by email or give us a call at 407-886-1963 to discuss what you have. Whether you're looking to sell or trade classic Chevy parts, we’re here to help. Plus, clearing out your garage might just earn you some extra cash for a special date night—your spouse will thank you!

Why do old parts costs so much?

Old parts are expensive because many are no longer reproduced, making them rare and valuable. Even when reproduction parts exist, they’re often of lower quality compared to originals. At Southeast Chevy Parts, we’ve been in the business since the 1970s, and we know the difference between quality and junk. If you want cheap fixes, look elsewhere, but for quality that lasts, we’re the experts to trust.

Do you carry reproduction parts as well as original parts?

Yes, we carry both original and reproduction parts. While we specialize in original parts, we also have access to most reproduction parts from major manufacturers. This allows us to provide a one-stop shop for your restoration needs. You’ll get expert advice on both types of parts, saving you time, money, and shipping costs. What should I do if you sent me the wrong part?

If we sent you the wrong part, first double-check to ensure it’s actually incorrect, as mix-ups with models or left/right parts are common. If it still doesn’t fit, remember that many classic parts require slight modifications to fit properly. But if it’s genuinely wrong, contact us within 30 days, and we’ll offer a replacement, in-store credit, or a refund.

What services do you provide?

We offer a range of services for your restoration needs, including buffing and polishing stainless, repairing bent or punctured moldings, original seat restoration, chrome plating, rebuilding gauges, wiper motor remanufacturing, anodizing aluminum, and more.

Can I trade parts as credit toward an order?

We not only sell Chevy parts but also buy and trade them! If you have classic Chevy parts cluttering your space, we can help you clear them out and even provide cash or credit in return. This unique feature has helped many customers declutter and improve their relationships, making us consider a "marriage counseling fee!" Ready to trade in your old parts?

What's the difference between Rebuilt, Restored, and Re-manufactured?

Reproduction parts closely resemble originals but aren't necessarily made the same way. Replacement parts are functional alternatives, while remanufactured, rebuilt, refurbished, and restored parts mean an original is restored to its original function or appearance. Understanding these terms clarifies your options.

Do you have a catalog so that I can order parts?

We often receive requests for a printed catalog, which we appreciate as a compliment! However, we focus on our online store instead. Our inventory of original used Chevy parts changes constantly, making a printed catalog impractical since parts can sell quickly and prices fluctuate. By listing parts online, we provide real-time availability and pricing, allowing for quicker adjustments and lower costs.

What kind of warranty or guarantee do I get with the parts?

We want you to be completely satisfied with the quality and service at Southeast Chevy Parts. That’s why we offer a one-year warranty on all remanufactured parts, including carburetors and electric wiper motors, plus a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all orders. If you're not thrilled with your purchase, return it within 30 days for a full refund.

Should I insure my car even if I drive it infrequently?

Many customers ask if they should insure classic cars they rarely drive. One friend lost his uninsured 1957 convertible in a garage fire, while another's Porsche sank into a hole without coverage. Both learned the hard way: any collectible car needs full insurance for fire and theft, even during restoration. Don't risk losing your classic Chevy!

How Should I Ship My Core?

Shipping cores to Southeast Chevy Parts requires careful preparation due to EPA regulations. Always drain fluids from items like carburetors and master cylinders, and double-bag them to prevent leaks. Use protective padding like bubble wrap, and consider PVC pipes or sturdy boxes for moldings. Don’t forget to include your contact information and a copy of your invoice to ensure proper credit.

How long will it take to fulfill an order?

Order processing times at Southeast Chevy Parts depend on the type of parts ordered. Most online orders received before 2 p.m. Eastern will ship the same day, while those after 2 p.m. will ship the next business day. Some orders may take several days to process due to inspection and restoration, while rare parts may take weeks.

Is there a cheaper way to ship larger items?

If you're not in a hurry and want to save on shipping, consider our delivery service for oversized items! We travel specific routes across the country, and if you live near these highways, we can bring your parts directly to your door at a lower cost. Have classic Chevy parts for sale? We’d love to see what you have; we can trade or buy them!

Should I keep my car original or modify it?

Should you keep your classic Chevy original or modify it? This question has evolved over the years. While maintaining a car's original condition once held greater value, today’s drivers often appreciate modern comforts like power steering, air conditioning, and updated engines. Consider your goals: do you want a museum piece or a daily driver?
